Cafe In Action at Kim Tian Road

Went to get dinner within the vincinity of my house and decided to try out the newly opened outlet of Cafe In Action along Kim Tian Road.
This is their second outlet, 3 years from their first at Valley Point. They packed a wide variety of dishes from burgers to set meals and even local cuisines in their menu. This particular outlet opens from 11a.m. - 6 a.m. which makes it a ideal place for supper. As I ordered take away (delivery is possible for a charge of $2) , I was unable to get pictures of the plating of the dishes. Rest assured, I will get them up as soon as I make my next trip over. While waiting for my order, the waiting staff offered me drinks which is on the house. The barley was normal whilst their lemongrass tea was great!

After dinner, manage to get my family out for dessert. I would say it is a little disappointing as their main course set a rather high standard for the cost of only $4-$8 per person.
Chocolate truffle
A little dry but thankfully for the layer of chocolate on top, managed to pass.
Carrot Cake
Nice and moist with a lot of carrot and nuts inside. For me its the best cake to try among the selections.
Brownie With Vanilla Ice Cream
This is what really disappointed me. The brownie is just like a normal sponge cake. Seriously needs a lot of improvement.

Halia Restaurant at Botanic Gardens

Alright, shall start this blog going with a review of an excellent place for a weekend brunch. I was out with my family for a morning walk and decided to get some brunch so we ended up trying out the food at Halia Restaurant in the Botanic Gardens.
There were quite a number of us which gave us the luxury to order a variety of food from the menu for tasting.

Poached Egg With Back Bacon Sandwich
One of the usual combinations of the many varieties of sandwich which you can find in most places but this one right here is one done to perfection. The bread is crusty on the outside but fluffy to chew on and the tastes of the ingredients complement well with each other.

Mix Vegetable Quiche
For those health conscious, this would be superb. Full of greens and light on the palate. The downside : It can be a little bland for those who prefer their food with more seasoning.

Chef's Special
A risotto pancake base layered with back bacon, berries and caramelised bananas and topped with wild rocket greens. Interesting combination which suprisingly complements each other.

Wanton Mee with Angel Hair Pasta
East meets West in this dish which we usually get at markets. The angel hair pasta is a great change to the common noodles which we get outside and their Char Siew(barbequed pork) is cooked in Japanese style. Comes with dumplings.

French Toast with Cinnamon and Strawberries
Like the Poached Egg sandwich, this French Toast boasts of fluffy bread  topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries by the side. Simple yet perfect.

Banana and Caramel Crepe with Chocolate Sauce
Awesome. Thats all i need to saw. A whole banana wrapped in a thin crepe skin, topped with whipped cream and nuts with a final drizzle of caramel glaze. A shooter of hot chocolate is served beside for you to lather it in goodness.

To sum up, the variety and taste of food is excellent. The dining area is well manged but booking is needed if you want a table in the air conditioned area. Service staff are well trained and very courteous. Total bill for 7 pax turned out at S$132 which is around S$19 per pax. If you are willing to pay that amount for a brunch, definitely a value for money.
